The hilly Pacific coastline of Panama had witnessed the force of many storms and severe erosion forces in years past, leading to a problem for the Punta Raton Beach Residences. In order to procure the most property out of the available space, contractors were required to cut into the bordering slopes at a 70 degree angle.

Heavy rains and wind in the coastal area as well as strong water flows coming down from the mountains during these storms have led to significant material loss on the edges of these properties.The continental sand was washing out, leaving heavily rutted and crumbling bluff. The Bijao Beach Resort community resides in the balmy region of Panama near Santa Clara's beaches. It was constructed as a luxury resort to compete with nearby Playa Blanca and Decameron. An artificial mountain was created to enhance the geography of the resort. Native soil of the area was compacted and stabilized with biaxial geogrid, but rain wreaked havoc upon the slopes.

Initially when the mountain was developed biaxial geogrid was used as stabilization, but as therains eroded away large portions of the slope it was determined that this material wasinappropriate for the specific application. These slopes were extremely steep, measuring sixty-five to seventy degrees, and lacked any type of vegetation. Envirogrid EGA304PT was chosen to stabilize the slopes.
